Bus
From Mgarr, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located near the Mgarr Harbour. Look for the bus stop sign and wait for the bus heading to Valletta or Rabat. You can take bus number 41 or 42. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Rabat' stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Mdina. Head east on Triq San Pawl and continue straight until you reach the entrance of Mdina. Once inside Mdina, follow the signs towards Bastion Square.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, start from the center of Mgarr and head towards Triq San Nikola. Follow this road as it winds through the countryside, enjoying the scenic views. Continue on this path for about 3 kilometers until you reach the outskirts of Rabat. From Rabat, follow the signs to Mdina, which is just a short distance away. Upon reaching Mdina, make your way to Bastion Square, which is located within the city walls.
Taxi
For a more direct option, you can take a taxi from Mgarr to Mdina. You can find taxis available near the Mgarr Harbour. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Just inform the driver that you want to go to Bastion Square in Mdina. Taxis in Malta are typically safe and reliable.
