Getting There

• Bus

  From the Laurel Town Center, walk to the nearest bus stop on Montgomery Street. Take the WMATA Metrobus Route 86 towards Greenbelt. Ride the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Disembark at the stop at 14th St & New York Ave NW. From there, walk south on 14th St NW for about 5 minutes until you reach Alexander Hamilton Pl NW. The William Tecumseh Sherman Monument will be on your left.

• Metro

  From the Laurel Town Center, walk to the Laurel Marc Train Station. Take the Marc Train towards Washington, D.C. and get off at the Union Station stop. Once at Union Station, follow the signs to the Metro Red Line. Take the Metro towards Glenmont and get off at the Metro Center Station. Transfer to the Blue Line towards Largo Town Center and get off at the 7th St-Convention Center Station. Exit the station and walk about 10 minutes west to Alexander Hamilton Pl NW to find the William Tecumseh Sherman Monument.

• Walking

  If you are near the Laurel Historical Society, you can walk towards the Laurel Town Center. From the Town Center, head towards the nearest bus stop and take a bus as described above, or if you prefer to walk, you can follow the path to the nearest Metro station, which will take approximately 45 minutes. It’s a scenic route but be sure to stay on sidewalks and cross at crosswalks for safety.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, rent a bike from a local rental service in Laurel. From the Laurel Town Center, head east on Main Street until you reach the Anacostia River Trail. Follow the trail south towards Washington, D.C. This route will take you through scenic parks and will take approximately 1 hour. Once you reach Washington, navigate towards Alexander Hamilton Pl NW where the William Tecumseh Sherman Monument is located.
