Walking
From the center of Mount Vernon, head towards Washington Place. If you are near the Mount Vernon Cultural District or the Walters Art Museum, simply walk east on Centre Street until you reach the intersection with Washington Place. Turn left on Washington Place, and you will see the Washington Monument straight ahead. The walk is approximately 10 minutes and covers about half a mile.
Public Transportation (Bus)
If you prefer public transport, you can take the MTA bus. Locate the nearest bus stop on Charles Street. Board the number 11 or 51 bus heading south towards the Baltimore Arena. Get off at the Washington Monument stop (around 4 stops). From there, walk a short distance north on Washington Place to reach the monument. Make sure to have $1.90 for the bus fare, which you can pay with exact change or a CharmCard.
Biking
If you enjoy biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike-share stations around Mount Vernon. Head south on Charles Street, then take a left on Washington Place. The monument will be ahead. The ride is pleasant and should take around 5 minutes. Be aware of bike rental fees, which typically start at around $2 for a single ride.
