Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from any point in the Billy Goat Trail area, head northwest on the main park road until you reach the intersection with MacArthur Blvd. Turn left onto MacArthur Blvd and continue for about 3 miles. Look for signs directing you to the Great Falls Park entrance on your right. Once you enter the park, follow the signs for the Ford Mine Trail parking area. There is a parking fee of $10 per vehicle, which can be paid at the entrance.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Ford Mine Trail using public transportation, take the Metro to the Grosvenor-Strathmore station on the Red Line. From there, you can catch the Ride On Bus #46 towards Westfield Montgomery Mall. Get off at the intersection of MacArthur Blvd and Falls Rd. From there, it is approximately a 20-minute walk to the entrance of Great Falls Park where the Ford Mine Trail is located. Note that the bus fare is around $1.75 to $2.00, depending on the payment method.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of the Billy Goat Trail, you can also walk to Ford Mine Trail. Locate the nearest access point to the Billy Goat Trail and hike towards the Great Falls Park entrance. The walk will take around 30 minutes and will provide you with scenic views along the Potomac River. Ensure to follow the trails leading to the park entrance where you can access the Ford Mine Trail.
