From the center of Thurmont, MD, head northwest on MD-550/Washington St. Follow MD-550 for approximately 0.5 miles. Turn left onto Catoctin Hollow Rd (MD-77). Continue on Catoctin Hollow Rd for about 3 miles. Then, turn left onto Park Central Rd. After about 1 mile, look for the Chimney Rock trailhead parking area on your left. Parking is free, but the area can get busy on weekends.

Once in Thurmont, you can either take a taxi or rideshare service to the Chimney Rock trailhead parking area on Park Central Rd. The hike from the parking area to Chimney Rock itself is about 0.5 miles and includes some elevation gain, so wear appropriate shoes.
