Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head to the intersection of US-15 and MD-26 in Frederick, MD. From there, take MD-26 West for about 5 miles until you reach the intersection with Gambrill Park Road. Turn left onto Gambrill Park Road and follow it for approximately 3 miles. Gambrill State Park will be on your right at 8602 Gambrill Park Rd, Frederick, MD 21702. Parking is available on-site, but please be aware that there may be a parking fee if you are visiting during busy seasons.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Gambrill State Park using public transportation, start by taking the MARC Train from Washington, D.C. to the Frederick station. Once you arrive at the Frederick station, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the park, as public transportation options are limited. The distance from the train station to Gambrill State Park is about 10 miles, so expect a taxi fare to be around $20-$30. Confirm the availability of rideshare services in the area before your trip.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, biking to Gambrill State Park is an option. If you are in downtown Frederick, you can take the Catoctin Mountain Scenic Byway route. Start at the intersection of East Patrick Street and North Market Street, head north on Market Street, and then take a left onto MD-550. Follow the signs to Gambrill State Park. This route is approximately 8 miles and can be challenging due to elevation changes, so ensure you are prepared for a strenuous ride.
