Getting There

• Car

  From the main entrance of Cunningham Falls State Park, head southeast on MD-77 E (Catoctin Mountain Highway) for about 1.5 miles. At the intersection, turn left onto Roddy Road. Continue on Roddy Road for approximately 2 miles. The Roddy Road Covered Bridge will be on your left at 14760 Roddy Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788. There is no parking fee, but be sure to park safely off the road.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus to Thurmont. The closest bus stop may be located in Frederick, MD. Once you arrive in Thurmont, use a taxi service or rideshare app (like Uber or Lyft) to reach Roddy Road Covered Bridge. The taxi ride will take about 15-20 minutes and can cost around $15-$25, depending on traffic.

• Biking

  For those interested in biking, you can rent a bike at Cunningham Falls State Park. Start at the park’s main entrance and follow the same route as for cars, heading southeast on MD-77 E. When you reach Roddy Road, carefully ride along this road for about 2 miles. The bridge will be on your left. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow all biking safety rules.

• Walking

  If you prefer walking and are staying nearby in the park, you can walk to Roddy Road Covered Bridge. It is about a 2.5-mile walk from the park's visitor center. Head southeast on MD-77 E, then turn left onto Roddy Road. Please be cautious as parts of the road do not have sidewalks. This walk will take approximately 1 hour, depending on your pace.
