From downtown Frederick, walk to the nearest bus stop on Market Street. Take the Frederick Transit Route 30 towards 'Westview South'. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the 'Westview' stop. Transfer to the Montgomery County Ride On Bus Route 47 towards 'Rockville' and get off at the 'Great Falls Village Center' stop. From there, it's a 15-minute walk. Head east on Seneca Road, and you will arrive at the Potomac-Heritage Trail.

If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Frederick. Start at 1 East Patrick Street and head south on South Market Street. Continue onto the Monocacy River Greenway Trail. Follow the trail for approximately 5 miles until you arrive at the Potomac-Heritage Trail entrance located at 101 Seneca Rd. Be cautious of traffic as you navigate through city streets.

If you enjoy walking, start from the Frederick City Hall located at 101 N Court St. Head south on Court Street until you reach South Market Street. Turn left and walk down South Market Street until you reach the intersection with West Patrick Street. Turn right and continue until you reach the Monocacy River. Follow the riverbank path which leads you towards Great Falls. It will take about 2 hours of walking to reach the Potomac-Heritage Trail at 101 Seneca Rd.
