Public Bus
From Gaithersburg, head to the Gaithersburg Transit Center located at 1 Montgomery County Dr. Take the Ride On Bus Route 55 towards the White Flint Metro Station. Get off at the 'White Flint Metro' station. From there, transfer to the Metro Red Line towards Glenmont. Ride the Metro until you reach the 'Tysons Corner' station. Exit the station and transfer to the Fairfax Connector Bus 29 towards the McLean Metro Station. Get off at the 'Old Dominion Dr & Great Falls Park' stop. Walk a short distance to reach the entrance of Great Falls Park.
Metro and Bus Combination
Start at the Gaithersburg Metro Station on the Red Line. Take the Metro towards Glenmont. Change trains at the 'Rockville' station and take the Metro towards Shady Grove. At the 'Shady Grove' station, switch to the Metro towards Glenmont again but get off at 'Tysons Corner'. From there, you can catch the Route 29 bus towards McLean. Get off at 'Old Dominion Dr & Great Falls Park'. Walk to the park entrance from the bus stop.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Gaithersburg. Take the bike path towards the Rock Creek Park Trail, then head towards the George Washington Parkway. Follow the signs to Great Falls Park. It's about a 10-mile ride, so ensure you have a good map or GPS. The park entrance will be on your right as you approach.
Walking
While walking directly to Great Falls Park from central Gaithersburg is not practical due to the distance (approximately 16 miles), you can take public transportation to get closer and then walk. For example, take the bus to Tysons Corner and then walk approximately 2 miles to the park entrance. Follow the Old Dominion Drive north until you reach the park.
