Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Hagerstown, head southeast on East Washington Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with South Potomac Street. Turn left onto South Potomac Street and follow it as it becomes US-11 S. Keep walking for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with MD-34 E. Continue straight, and you'll pass through the town of Sharpsburg. After approximately 2 more miles, turn left onto Harpers Ferry Road. Follow the signs to Harpers Ferry, which will lead you towards the National Historical Park. Once you reach the park entrance, follow the signs for Maryland Heights. The trailhead is located at 171 Shoreline Drive.

    From Hagerstown, take the MTA Maryland bus route 201 towards Frederick. Board the bus at the Hagerstown Transit Center. You will need to transfer at the Frederick Transit Center to the MTA bus route 505 heading towards Harpers Ferry. Once you arrive at Harpers Ferry, exit the bus and follow the signs to the National Park Visitor Center. From there, walk to the trailhead at 171 Shoreline Drive, which is a short distance away.
