Getting There

  • Public Transportation - Metro

    Start at the Rockville Metro Station (Red Line). Take the Metro towards Glenmont and get off at the Twinbrook station (1 stop). Exit the station and walk to the bus stop on Twinbrook Parkway. Board the Ride On Bus #46 towards Lake Needwood. The bus will take you directly to the Lake Needwood area. Get off at the Needwood Lake Cir stop, which is adjacent to the park.

  • Public Transportation - Bus

    From Rockville Town Center, walk to the bus stop on MD-355 (Rockville Pike). Take the Ride On Bus #45 towards Lake Needwood. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at the Needwood Lake Cir stop. The park entrance will be within walking distance from the bus stop.

  • Biking

    If you prefer biking, start from Rockville Town Center and head south on MD-355. Turn right onto W Montgomery Ave and follow it until you reach the entrance to Rock Creek Regional Park. Continue straight on the park's pathway until you reach Lake Needwood. The ride is approximately 3 miles and will take about 15-20 minutes.

  • Walking

    For those who want to walk, begin at the Rockville Town Center. Head south on MD-355 and then take a left onto W Montgomery Ave. Follow W Montgomery Ave until you reach the park entrance. The walk is about 3 miles and should take approximately 1 hour. Once inside the park, follow signs to Lake Needwood.
