    Getting There

    Metro

    From Rockville Metro Station, take the Red Line towards Glenmont. Stay on the train for 17 stops, approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Smithsonian Metro Station. Exit the station and walk east on Independence Ave SW for about 0.3 miles (5-7 minutes) until you reach the Smithsonian Castle at 1000 Jefferson Dr SW.

    Bus

    From Rockville, take the Ride On Bus Route 46 towards the Shady Grove Metro Station. After about 25 minutes, transfer to Metrobus Route 30N at the Shady Grove Metro Station. Take the 30N bus towards the National Mall and get off at the Smithsonian stop. From there, walk west on Jefferson Dr SW for about 0.2 miles (about 4 minutes) to reach the Smithsonian Castle.

    Bicycle

    If you are comfortable biking, rent a bike from a local bike-sharing program. Start from Rockville Town Center and head southeast on Rockville Pike (MD-355). Continue on MD-355 until you reach the Capital Crescent Trail. Follow the trail south until it connects to the National Mall area, then follow the signs towards the Smithsonian Castle located at 1000 Jefferson Dr SW.

    Walking

    If you're already in the downtown area of Rockville, you can walk to the Rockville Metro Station. Once there, take the Red Line towards Glenmont. After approximately 30 minutes and 17 stops, disembark at the Smithsonian Metro Station. From the Metro station, walk east on Independence Ave SW for roughly 0.3 miles (5-7 minutes) to arrive at the Smithsonian Castle.
