Metro
From Silver Spring Metro Station, take the Red Line towards Glenmont. Ride for 9 stops and get off at Gallery Place-Chinatown Station. Transfer to the Yellow Line towards Greenbelt and ride for 2 stops to L'Enfant Plaza. From L'Enfant Plaza, exit the station and walk southwest for about 10 minutes towards the National Mall. The Smithsonian Castle is located at 1000 Jefferson Dr SW, Washington, DC 20560.
Bus
From Silver Spring, take the Ride On Bus Route 20 towards the Silver Spring Metro Station. Get off at the stop for the Washington, DC - 16th Street NW and K St NW. From there, transfer to the DC Circulator (National Mall route) and get off at the stop for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Walk east for a few minutes to reach the Smithsonian Castle at 1000 Jefferson Dr SW, Washington, DC 20560.
Walking
If you are already in downtown Silver Spring, head south on Georgia Avenue. Continue walking for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Colesville Road. Turn right onto Colesville Road and continue walking until you reach the Silver Spring Metro Station. From there, you can follow the Metro guidance above or continue walking south along 16th Street NW for approximately 4 miles to reach the Smithsonian Castle at 1000 Jefferson Dr SW, Washington, DC 20560.
