From the center of Waldorf, walk to the nearest bus stop on Crain Highway (Route 301). Take the #18 bus towards 'Alexandria' or 'Fort Belvoir'. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the 'Van Dorn St' stop. From there, transfer to the #1 or #2 bus towards 'Old Town Alexandria'. Ride for about 15 minutes until you reach 'Braddock Rd Metro Station'. Finally, take a 15-minute walk west along W Braddock Rd, and you will arrive at the Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site at 4301 W Braddock Rd.

If you are near the Waldorf Shopping Center, head north on St. Charles Parkway until you reach Crain Highway (Route 301). Cross over to the bus stop to catch the #18 bus towards 'Alexandria'. After getting off at 'Van Dorn St', you can also opt to walk if you prefer. Head west on Van Dorn St for about 1 mile, then turn left onto W Braddock Rd. Continue walking for about 0.5 miles and you'll reach the Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site.
