If you are traveling by car, head towards Alexandria, VA. From I-395, take exit 3B for Duke Street (VA-236 W). Continue on Duke Street for about 2 miles until you reach Roanoke Ave. Turn left onto Roanoke Ave and continue for about 0.5 miles. The Winkler Botanical Preserve will be on your right at 5400 Roanoke Ave. There is no parking fee at the Preserve, so you can park in the designated areas.

To reach Winkler Botanical Preserve via public transportation, take the Metro to the King Street-Old Town Station (Blue and Yellow Lines). From there, catch the DASH bus Route AT1 towards the Van Dorn Metro Station. Get off at the stop for Roanoke Ave & N. Jordan St. From the bus stop, walk about 0.3 miles south on Roanoke Ave, and you will find the Winkler Botanical Preserve at 5400 Roanoke Ave. Note that the DASH bus fare is approximately $2.00.
