The Knob: A Historical Gem Overlooking Cape Cod

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to The Knob from anywhere in Cape Cod, first navigate to Falmouth. Use Route 28 South to get to Falmouth if you're coming from the mid or upper Cape. Once in Falmouth, look for signs for Woods Hole. Turn onto Woods Hole Road and continue straight until you reach a fork. Keep left onto Water Street. Follow Water Street until you see the entrance to The Knob on your right. There is no parking lot directly at The Knob, but there is street parking available along Water Street.

• Public Transportation

  Take the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) bus service, specifically the 'Falmouth' route. Board the bus at any designated bus stop and request to get off at the Woods Hole stop. From the bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile to The Knob. Head down Water Street, following the path along the waterfront. The walk is scenic and provides beautiful views of the beach. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as service may vary based on the day and time.

• Bike

  For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Falmouth. Once you have your bike, head towards Woods Hole via Woods Hole Road. The ride is about 2 miles and is mostly flat, making it accessible for all skill levels. Follow the same route as if you were driving, turning onto Water Street and continuing until you reach The Knob. There are bike racks available for securing your bike at the site.

• Walking

  If you are already in the Woods Hole area and wish to walk to The Knob, simply head down Water Street from the center of Woods Hole. It's a pleasant walk of about 1 mile along the waterfront. The path is mostly flat and offers beautiful views along the way. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes, as the path can be uneven in some areas.
