Walking
If you are starting from the Gloucester Fishermen's Memorial, head east on Western Avenue toward the intersection with Main Street. Continue walking straight onto Main Street for about 0.4 miles until you reach the Gloucester train station. From there, take the MBTA commuter rail towards Boston. The train ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at the South Station in Boston, follow the signs to the Red Line subway. Take the Red Line towards Alewife and get off at Park Street Station (about 3 stops). After exiting the train, follow the signs to the Tremont Street exit. Once you are on Tremont Street, walk north for about 0.2 miles, and you will find the Boston Common Visitors Center at 139 Tremont St.
Bus
From the Gloucester City Hall, walk to the nearest bus stop located at 9 Dale Avenue. Board the Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) bus number 451 towards the Gloucester MBTA Station. After about 15 minutes, you will arrive at the Gloucester train station. Take the MBTA commuter rail towards Boston. The journey will take about 1 hour. Upon arriving at South Station, transfer to the Red Line subway. Take the Red Line towards Alewife and get off at Park Street Station (3 stops). Exit the station and walk north on Tremont Street for about 0.2 miles until you reach the Boston Common Visitors Center at 139 Tremont St.
