Bus

From Downtown Lowell, head to the nearest bus stop at Merrimack Street. Take the LRTA bus route 1 towards the Gallagher Terminal. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the Alewife bus terminal. From there, transfer to the MBTA bus route 67 towards Alewife Station. After about 20 minutes, you will arrive at the Alewife Station. From there, you can take the 'Red Line' subway towards Ashmont and get off at the 'Back Bay' station.

Train

Make your way to the Lowell Train Station located at 20 E Merrimack St. Board a commuter rail train on the MBTA Lowell Line towards Boston. This ride will take around 30 minutes. Get off at the North Station in Boston. From North Station, follow the signs to the 'Orange Line' subway and take it towards 'Haymarket' station. Transfer at Haymarket to the 'Green Line' towards 'Copley' and get off at the 'Back Bay' station.

Bicycle

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local bike-sharing services available in Lowell. Start at the Tsongas Center and head south on the Merrimack River Trail. Continue along the trail until you reach the Concord River Greenway. Follow the signs directing you to the bike path leading towards Boston. This route is approximately 30 miles and will take you through scenic areas, but be prepared for a long ride. Once you reach Boston, navigate towards the Back Bay area using local bike lanes.

Walking

If you enjoy walking, you can take a long scenic route from Lowell to Boston. Start at the Lowell National Historical Park and make your way to the Merrimack River. Follow the riverbank south until you reach the edge of the city. This is a lengthy walk of approximately 30 miles, which could take around 6-7 hours. As you walk, enjoy the view of the river and local neighborhoods. Once you reach Boston, ask locals for directions to the Back Bay, which is a well-known area.
