Getting There

  • Bus

    From downtown Lowell, walk to the nearest bus stop at Merrimack St @ Central St. Take the MBTA bus route 350 towards Boston. Ride the bus for about 45 minutes until you reach the Andrew Station stop. Once there, transfer to the 9 bus towards City Point. After approximately 10 minutes, get off at the Castle Island stop. You will find Castle Island just a short walk away.

  • Train and Bus

    From Lowell, head to the Lowell MBTA train station. Board the Commuter Rail on the Lowell Line towards Boston. Travel for about 30 minutes and get off at North Station. From North Station, walk to the Haymarket bus station (about 10 minutes). Take the 9 bus from Haymarket towards City Point. Ride for approximately 30 minutes and disembark at the Castle Island stop, which is a short walk from Castle Island.

  • Walking and Bus

    If you prefer to walk, start from the center of Lowell and head south towards Merrimack St. Walk down Merrimack St until you reach the bus stop at Merrimack St @ Central St. From there, take the MBTA bus route 350 towards Boston and follow the same directions as provided for the bus option. Note that this is a longer option and may take about 1 hour and 30 minutes total.
