L Street Tavern: A South Boston Gem

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from Quincy Center, head west on Hancock Street toward the Quincy Adams T Station. When you reach the station, take the Braintree branch of the Red Line train towards Alewife. Stay on the train for 10 stops until you reach the Broadway Station in South Boston. Exit the station and walk east on Broadway Street. Turn right onto E 8th Street, and you will find L Street Tavern at 658 E 8th St, about a 10-minute walk from the station.

• Public Transit

  From Quincy Center, take the '56' bus towards North Quincy. Get off at the North Quincy Station. Here, transfer to the Red Line train towards Ashmont. Ride the train for 3 stops and get off at the Andrew Station. Exit the station and head east on Freeport Street. Continue onto E 8th Street, and you will arrive at L Street Tavern, located at 658 E 8th St, approximately a 15-minute walk from the Andrew Station.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, start in Quincy Center and head toward the Neponset River Greenway. Follow the path north along the river until you reach Morrissey Boulevard. Turn right onto Morrissey Boulevard and continue until you reach E 8th Street. Turn left onto E 8th Street, and L Street Tavern will be on your right at 658 E 8th St. The bike ride should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on your speed.
