Bus
From anywhere in Martha's Vineyard, take the VTA (Vineyard Transit Authority) bus to the ferry terminal at Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Once at the terminal, board the ferry to Woods Hole, MA. After arriving at Woods Hole, you can transfer to the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) bus 1 which will take you to Bourne. Request a stop at '33 Canal Service Rd.' This will get you close to the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and want to bike, rent a bicycle in Martha's Vineyard. Start by heading towards the ferry terminal at either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven, and take the ferry to Woods Hole. Once you disembark, follow signs to Route 28 and bike towards Bourne. The ride is approximately 12 miles, and you'll enjoy scenic views along the way. Make sure to follow local traffic rules and wear a helmet. Continue straight on Canal Service Rd until you reach the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge.
Walking
Walking directly from Martha's Vineyard to Bourne is not feasible due to the water. However, if you prefer walking after taking the ferry, you can walk from the Woods Hole ferry terminal to the nearby CCRTA bus stop and take the bus to Bourne. After arriving in Bourne, you can walk the remaining distance to the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge, which is about a 1-mile walk from the bus stop. Follow Canal Service Rd until you reach your destination.
