Bus
From New Bedford, head to the nearest bus terminal, which is the New Bedford Terminal located at 134 Union Street. Take the Peter Pan Bus Lines service towards Providence. The journey takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Providence Bus Terminal, exit the terminal and head east on Memorial Boulevard. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with College Street. Turn left onto College Street, and continue walking for approximately 0.4 miles until you arrive at Brown University.
Train
To reach Brown University from New Bedford, you can take a train from the New Bedford train station, located at 1 E Rodney French Blvd, to Providence. First, get to the New Bedford train station. Once at the station, board the train heading towards Providence. The train journey will take about 30 minutes. After arriving at the Providence train station, exit and walk south on Amtrak Way. Turn right onto the 1-195 W ramp towards the city center. Continue straight for about 0.7 miles, then turn left onto College Hill Avenue. Walk for about 0.3 miles to reach Brown University.
Bike
If you're up for a bike ride, start from downtown New Bedford. Head north on Purchase Street, then take a left onto Coggeshall Street. Follow Coggeshall until you reach the bike path that leads towards the East Bay Bike Path. Continue on the bike path heading north towards Providence. This scenic route takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach the end of the bike path, you'll be close to the downtown area of Providence. From the bike path exit, head towards College Hill where Brown University is located.
Walking
Walking from New Bedford to Brown University is quite a trek. If you're feeling adventurous, start from the downtown area and walk towards the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto Route 6. After crossing the bridge, you'll enter Fairhaven. Continue straight for about 5 miles, then turn onto Route 195 W towards Providence. Walk along the pedestrian paths available until you reach the city. Once in Providence, navigate to College Street, and walk straight to Brown University. This walk covers approximately 20 miles and may take several hours.
