Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown New Bedford, walk to the nearest bus stop located at the corner of Purchase Street and Union Street. Board the GATRA bus heading towards Providence. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Disembark at the stop closest to Roger Williams Park, which will be announced on board. From the bus stop, walk along Pine Hill Ave for about 10 minutes until you reach the entrance of Roger Williams Park.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local bike-sharing service available in downtown New Bedford. Head south on Purchase Street and then take a left onto Route 18. Follow Route 18 until you reach the intersection with I-195. Use the bike path to navigate around the highway and continue onto the scenic bike routes that lead to Providence. Once in Providence, follow Pine Hill Ave directly to Roger Williams Park. The total biking distance is approximately 10 miles, and it will take around 45-60 minutes depending on your cycling speed.

• Walking

  For the adventurous spirit, it's possible to walk to Roger Williams Park from New Bedford, though it is a long trek. Start at the center of New Bedford and follow the waterfront to the south until you reach the bridge to Fairhaven. Cross the bridge and continue on Route 6 towards Providence. This route will take you through some scenic areas, but be prepared for a walk of about 10 miles, which may take around 3 to 4 hours, depending on your pace.
