Bus
To get to South Beach in Edgartown, take the Peter Pan Bus Lines from New Bedford to Woods Hole. Once you arrive at Woods Hole, you will need to transfer to the Island Queen ferry to Martha's Vineyard. After arriving at Oak Bluffs, catch the Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority bus (the 'Vineyard Haven to Edgartown' route) which will take you directly to Edgartown. From the bus stop in Edgartown, it is a short 0.5-mile walk to South Beach. Just head south on Main Street, turn left onto South Beach Road, and follow it until you reach the beach.
Ferry and Bus
Begin your journey by taking the ferry from New Bedford to Cuttyhunk Island. Once you arrive at Cuttyhunk, you will need to take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard. After reaching Martha's Vineyard, board the bus that connects to Edgartown. Once in Edgartown, follow Main Street south, then turn onto South Beach Road. Continue on this road until you reach South Beach.
Bicycle
If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in New Bedford and cycle to the ferry terminal. Take the ferry from New Bedford to Martha's Vineyard. Once on the island, you can bike to Edgartown. Follow the bike paths, which will lead you through the scenic areas of Martha's Vineyard. Once you arrive in Edgartown, head south on Main Street, then take a left on South Beach Road to reach South Beach.
Walking
While walking the entire distance from New Bedford to Edgartown is not practical due to the length, you can walk to the ferry terminal and take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. After arriving at the terminal in Martha's Vineyard, you can explore the local area on foot and eventually walk to Edgartown, which is about 6 miles away from the ferry terminal. Walk along scenic routes or ask locals for directions to South Beach once you reach Edgartown.
