Getting There

• Bus

  To reach the Boston Theater District from Lowell, begin your journey at the Lowell Transit Center located at 45 Thorndike Street. Board the MBTA's Commuter Rail on the Lowell Line towards North Station in Boston. The train ride takes approximately 35 minutes. Once you arrive at North Station, exit the train and follow the signs to the Haymarket subway station. Here, you can transfer to the Green Line. Take the Green Line train (B, C, or D branch) towards the Government Center. Get off at the Park Street station, then transfer to the Red Line towards Ashmont. Get off at the South Station stop. From there, it’s a short walk to the Boston Theater District, which is located near 0.5 miles away.

• Train

  Start your trip at the Lowell Train Station located at 20 Thorndike Street. Board the MBTA Commuter Rail on the Lowell Line towards North Station in Boston. The journey will take around 35 minutes. After arriving at North Station, follow the signs to the Orange Line subway. Take the Orange Line train towards Forest Hills and get off at Haymarket Station. From there, you can walk approximately 0.4 miles to the Boston Theater District. Just head southeast on Congress Street, then turn right onto Tremont Street, and you'll arrive at your destination.

• Bicycle

  For those who wish to bike to the Boston Theater District from Lowell, start at the Lowell Riverwalk along the Merrimack River. Follow the Riverwalk southwest until you reach the intersection with the Tsongas Center. Then take the bike path along the river heading towards the city. Continue on the bike path, which will connect you to the paths leading to the city. You may need to navigate streets such as Pawtucket Boulevard and Route 3A. Once you get closer to Boston, use the bike lanes available to reach the Theater District, which is located in downtown Boston. Make sure to follow local cycling regulations and stay safe on the roads.

• Walking

  If you're already in Lowell and prefer walking, start from the downtown area and head south towards the Merrimack River. Use the pedestrian pathways along the river to navigate your way through the city. Aim to reach the intersection of Thorndike Street and Dutton Street, where you can find the Lowell Transit Center. From there, plan to take a bus or train to Boston, as walking the entire distance to the Boston Theater District would be quite lengthy (approximately 30 miles).
