Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from anywhere in The Islands, head towards the nearest major road leading out of the islands. Follow signs toward Route 3 or Route 28, depending on your starting point. Once on Route 3, continue north until you reach the intersection with I-93. Merge onto I-93 North and continue for about 25 miles. Take exit 45 for Route 110 towards Lowell. Follow Route 110 into Lowell, which will become Bridge Street. Continue on Bridge Street and turn right onto John Street. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum will be on your left at 115 John St, Lowell, MA 01852. Parking is available nearby, but may incur a fee depending on the area.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a local bus service from your location on the islands to a nearby ferry terminal. From there, take the ferry to the mainland. Once you arrive, head to the nearest subway or bus station. If you take the subway, board the Orange Line towards Haymarket and transfer at North Station to the commuter rail towards Lowell. The train ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Upon arriving at the Lowell Station, exit and walk about 10 minutes to reach the museum: head south on Thorndike Street, then turn right onto John Street. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum will be at 115 John St, Lowell, MA 01852. Please check local schedules as there may be costs associated with both the ferry and train rides.
