Car
If you're driving from anywhere in The Islands, head towards Boston via the most convenient route. Once you reach the Boston area, take the I-93 S highway. Follow the signs for the South Boston exit. After exiting, continue on William J. Day Boulevard. Fort Independence will be on your left at 2010 William J Day Blvd, Boston, MA 02127. There is limited parking available, so be prepared to find street parking if the lot is full.
Public Transportation - Subway
Start by locating the nearest subway station on The Islands. Take the ferry to the downtown Boston area. From the ferry terminal, walk to the Government Center subway station and board the Green Line (C or D branch) towards Riverside or the E branch towards Heath Street. Transfer at Kenmore station to the B branch heading towards Boston College. Get off at the 'Park Street' station and transfer to the Red Line towards Ashmont. Get off at 'Andrew Station.' From Andrew Station, it's about a 15-minute walk to Fort Independence. Head east on Dorchester Avenue, then turn left onto William J Day Boulevard.
Public Transportation - Bus
If you're near a bus stop, find the bus routes that go towards South Boston. Use the MBTA website or a transit app to check the latest schedules. You may take the #9 bus from various locations on The Islands towards Andrew Station. Once you arrive at Andrew Station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Fort Independence. Head east on Dorchester Avenue, then turn left onto William J Day Boulevard.
