Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Wachusett Mountain Ski Area located at 499 Mountain Rd, Princeton, MA 01541. From the entrance, follow Mountain Road (also called Route 140) for about 1 mile. You will see signs for the Wachusett Mountain State Reservation. Continue straight until you reach the parking area at the base of the mountain. There is a parking fee of approximately $5 - $10 depending on the season. Once parked, you can follow the clearly marked hiking trails leading to Wachusett Mt. Summit.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the MBTA commuter rail to the Fitchburg Station. From there, you can use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to reach Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. The approximate distance from Fitchburg Station to the ski area is about 12 miles. Expect to pay around $20 - $30 for the rideshare. Once you arrive at the ski area, follow the same directions as above to reach the summit.

Hiking
After parking, if you're feeling adventurous, you can hike to the summit. There are several trails, with the most popular being the Balance Rock Trail. Follow the signs for the trailhead located near the parking area. The hike is about 1.5 miles long and takes approximately 30-45 minutes to reach the summit, depending on your pace.
