Public Transit
From Waltham, head to the nearest bus stop which is likely on Main Street. Take the MBTA Route 67 bus towards Alewife. After about 30-40 minutes, get off at the Alewife station, then transfer to the MBTA train on the Red Line towards Ashmont. Ride for several stops until you reach the North Station. From North Station, transfer to the commuter rail (MBTA) on the Lowell Line towards Lowell, and get off at the Salem station. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.

If you're already in Salem, start at the Salem Common park, located at the intersection of Washington Square and the intersection of Essex Street. Head southeast on Essex Street towards the waterfront, then turn right onto Derby Street. Walk straight until you reach the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, where you'll see the Derby Wharf Light Station at the end of the pier.

If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from a local shop in Waltham. Follow the Charles River Bike Path heading north until you reach Alewife. From there, use the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway towards Bedford and then follow the signs leading to Salem. Upon reaching Salem, head towards the waterfront, and you will find the Salem Maritime National Historic Site along the coast.
