Getting There
Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Adrar. Head northwest on Avenue Ahmed Baba toward Avenue de l'Indépendance. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Route N1. Turn left onto Route N1 and follow the signs toward Atar. After approximately 40 kilometers, take the exit toward Adrar Plateau. The plateau is well marked, and you should be able to see signs guiding you to the viewpoint. The total drive will take about an hour, depending on road conditions.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can catch a shared taxi (known as 'taxi brousse') from the main taxi station in Adrar. Look for taxis heading toward Atar. The fare is generally around 1,000 MRU (Mauritanian Ouguiya) per person. Inform the driver that you want to go to Adrar Plateau, and they will drop you off at the nearest point accessible by road, which is usually a short walk from the plateau entrance. Be prepared for a 1-2 hour ride depending on stops along the way.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from the drop-off point of the shared taxi, continue along the marked path towards the plateau. The walk is roughly 3 kilometers and will take about 30-40 minutes. Ensure you have sufficient water and wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be rocky and uneven. Look for landmarks such as unique rock formations to guide your way.
