Walking
If you are in the center of Palenque, start by heading southeast on Avenida 16 de Septiembre towards the intersection with Calle 5 de Febrero. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance to the Zona Arqueológica de Palenque. Once you arrive at the archaeological site, follow the signs leading you through the park. The sign is located along the pathway leading to the main ruins, positioned prominently for photo opportunities.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from various rental shops in Palenque. From the center, take Avenida 16 de Septiembre southeast for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance of the archaeological site. The ride is mostly flat and should take around 5-10 minutes. Once inside the site, park your bicycle and follow the walking path towards the sign.
Local Transport (Collectivo)
You can take a local colectivo (shared taxi van) from the center of Palenque. Head to the main plaza and look for colectivos headed towards the Zona Arqueológica de Palenque. The fare is usually around 20 pesos (about $1 USD). The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive at the archaeological site, follow the signs to the main pathway towards Palenque's Sign.
