Walking
If you are in the central area of San Miguel de Cozumel, head towards the waterfront along Avenida Rafael E. Melgar. This main street runs parallel to the coast and offers beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. Follow the road until you reach the Parque Benito Juárez, which is a popular gathering spot. From the park, continue walking south along Avenida 5, which will lead you directly to the main ferry terminal if you wish to explore other destinations.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in San Miguel de Cozumel. Once you have your bike, head east on Avenida 5, which will take you through the town and towards the coast. You can ride along the scenic coastal paths or continue on the main roads, as they are generally bike-friendly. Make sure to visit the beaches along the way, such as Playa San Francisco or Playa Palancar.
Public Bus
Cozumel has a local bus system that can take you to various points of interest around the island. To catch a bus, head to the main bus terminal located near the Plaza del Sol. Look for buses that are heading toward your desired destination, such as the beaches or the south of the island. The buses are typically marked with their routes and are an affordable way to explore the area.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout San Miguel de Cozumel. To find a taxi, simply look for a designated taxi stand or wave one down on the street. Provide the driver with your destination, such as a hotel, restaurant, or tourist attraction. Make sure to confirm the fare beforehand, as taxis in Cozumel do not have meters. Agree on a price before you get in to avoid any confusion.
Scooter Rental
For a fun and quick way to get around Cozumel, consider renting a scooter. You can find rental shops near the waterfront in San Miguel. After renting a scooter, head out towards the scenic areas of the island. Be sure to follow local traffic rules and wear a helmet for safety. You can explore the less populated areas of the island or visit popular destinations like the Cozumel Pearl Farm.
