Getting There

• Ferry

  To get to Playa del Carmen from Cozumel, first make your way to the Cozumel Ferry Terminal, located near the main plaza in downtown Cozumel. You can easily walk there from most hotels or tourist areas in town. Once at the terminal, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Playa del Carmen. Ferries run frequently, typically every hour. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the Playa del Carmen terminal, you will be in the heart of the city, where you can explore the area.

• Bicycle

  After arriving in Playa del Carmen, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops near the ferry terminal. Head towards the main avenue (Quinta Avenida) and ride along this pedestrian-friendly street, where you'll find many shops, restaurants, and attractions. This area is vibrant and easy to navigate, making it a great way to explore Playa del Carmen.

• Public Transport

  Once you are in Playa del Carmen, you can also take a local bus or collectivo (shared taxi) to reach different attractions. The main bus station is located a few blocks from the ferry terminal. For example, if you want to head to Tulum or other nearby destinations, just ask for directions to the bus station and catch a bus heading south. Buses are affordable and run frequently.

• Walking

  If you prefer to explore on foot, from the Playa del Carmen ferry terminal, you can easily walk to nearby attractions like the beach or the famous Fifth Avenue (Quinta Avenida). Just head straight out of the terminal, and you’ll see the beach on your left and the bustling shops and restaurants of Quinta Avenida on your right. It's a pleasant walk, and you can take your time to enjoy the sights along the way.
