Car
If you're traveling by car within the Lacandon Jungle, you can follow the road signs leading to Bonampak. From the town of Palenque, take the highway towards Corozal and then turn onto the road that leads to Bonampak. The journey takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. Ensure you have a GPS or a map, as the roads can be winding and poorly marked. Upon reaching the parking area, there is a small fee (around 50 MXN) for parking.
Public Transportation
For those opting for public transportation, you can take a colectivo (shared taxi) from Palenque to the nearby town of Frontera Corozal. From Frontera Corozal, catch another colectivo heading to Bonampak. This journey will take around 3 to 4 hours in total, including waiting times. The colectivo fare from Palenque should be approximately 100-150 MXN, and another 30-50 MXN for the ride from Frontera Corozal to Bonampak.
