Bus
From the center of Oaxaca City, head to the 'Periférico' bus terminal, which is located on the corner of Avenida Universidad and Avenida Periférico. Look for buses heading to Tlacolula de Matamoros. The fare is typically around 20 pesos. Once you board, the journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Capilla del Señor de Tlacolula, and they will let you know when to disembark. The chapel is a short walk from the bus stop.
Shared Taxi (Colectivo)
At the central market in Oaxaca City (Mercado 20 de Noviembre), look for the colectivos (shared taxis) that have signs for Tlacolula de Matamoros. The fare is usually around 30 pesos per person. These colectivos leave when they are full, so you may have to wait a bit. The ride takes about 30 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Capilla del Señor de Tlacolula, which is a well-known landmark.
Walking
If you find yourself in the nearby area of Tlacolula de Matamoros after taking a bus or colectivo, you can walk to the chapel. From the bus stop, head east on Calle 5 de Febrero until you reach the main square (Plaza de Tlacolula). The Capilla del Señor de Tlacolula is located just a few blocks north of the plaza on Tercera Sección. Follow the signs and local directions to reach the chapel.
