Walking
From the Zócalo (main square) in Oaxaca, head east on Calle de Manuel García Vigil. Continue straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Avenida 5 de Febrero. Turn left onto Avenida 5 de Febrero and walk for another 15 minutes. You will see signs for 'Cerro del Fortín' as you approach the hill. The path will lead you up towards the summit.
Public Transport (Bus)
Go to the nearest bus stop on Avenida 5 de Febrero, which is a main thoroughfare in Oaxaca. Look for a bus heading towards 'Fortín' or 'Cerro del Fortín'. The bus ride should take about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to the entrance of the park area, which will have signs indicating the way to Cerro del Fortín. From there, it’s a short walk uphill to reach the peak.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi or use a rideshare app. Tell the driver you want to go to 'Cerro del Fortín'. The ride will take approximately 10 minutes from the Zócalo, depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance to the park area, where you can walk the remaining distance to the summit.
