To reach Popocatépetl from central Puebla, head to the Estrella Roja bus terminal located at Avenida 16 de Septiembre 2301. There, purchase a ticket for a bus heading to the town of Amecameca. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Amecameca, you can take a local taxi or a colectivo (shared taxi) to the base of Popocatépetl, which is approximately 30 minutes away.

From the main square in Puebla, walk to Calle 2 Norte and look for the colectivos heading to Amecameca. The fare is usually around 50 MXN. The ride will take about 1 hour. Upon reaching Amecameca, you can catch a taxi or another colectivo to the entrance of the Popocatépetl National Park.
