At the terminal, purchase a ticket for the bus to San Diego. Look for buses that go to the San Ysidro border crossing. The ride should take about 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive at the San Ysidro border, disembark the bus and go through the U.S. customs and immigration process. After clearing customs, follow the signs to the San Diego Trolley station located nearby.

At the San Ysidro Trolley station, board the Blue Line trolley heading north towards 'Old Town' or 'America Plaza.' Stay on the trolley for about 30 minutes until you reach the 'Balboa Park' station. From there, exit the trolley and walk to the San Diego Zoo, which is about a 15-20 minute walk through Balboa Park. Follow the signs directing you to the zoo entrance at 2920 Zoo Dr, San Diego, CA 92101.
