Getting There

Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Merida, the capital of Yucatan. Take the Autopista 180D towards Cancún. After approximately 1.5 hours, take exit 162 towards Chichén Itzá/Tinum. Follow the signs for Tinum, and you will reach the entrance to Chichén Itzá in about 30 minutes. There is an entry fee of approximately 481 Mexican Pesos (MXN) for adults, so be prepared. Once inside, El Castillo is the main pyramid and is hard to miss.

Public Transportation
For public transportation, you can take a bus from Merida to Chichén Itzá. Several bus companies, such as ADO, operate this route. Buses depart regularly from the Merida bus terminal and take about 2-3 hours. The cost is typically around 200-250 MXN. Once you arrive at the Chichén Itzá bus terminal, you will need to purchase an entrance ticket (approximately 481 MXN) and walk to the site entrance, where El Castillo is located.
