Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown Ann Arbor, head to the nearest bus stop serving the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (AAATA) routes. You can catch the 'Route 4' bus towards 'Dixboro'. Make sure to check the bus schedule beforehand to avoid long waits. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. You will want to get off at the stop closest to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens, which is at the intersection of Dixboro Road and N Dixboro Road. From the bus stop, walk approximately 0.3 miles north on Dixboro Road, and you will see the entrance to Matthaei Botanical Gardens on your right.

• Bicycle

  If you're comfortable cycling, rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Ann Arbor. From downtown, head northeast on N University Ave. Continue on N University Ave until you reach Huron River Drive, then turn left. Follow Huron River Drive for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with Dixboro Road. Turn right onto Dixboro Road and continue for another mile; Matthaei Botanical Gardens will be on your left. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local cycling rules.

• Walking

  For those who prefer walking, you can start from the University of Michigan campus. Head north on State Street until you reach Huron Parkway. Turn left on Huron Parkway and continue walking for about 2.5 miles. When you reach the intersection with Dixboro Road, turn right. Matthaei Botanical Gardens will be about 1 mile ahead on your left. This route will take approximately 1 hour, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water!

  Use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, which is a convenient option if you prefer not to navigate public transit. Simply request a ride from your current location and enter 'Matthaei Botanical Gardens' as your destination. The driver will take you directly to the entrance at 1800 N Dixboro Rd.
