Public Transit
If you are starting from downtown Detroit, head to the nearest bus stop for the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) routes. Take the #53 Michigan Avenue bus. Board the bus heading towards the west. After approximately 15-20 minutes, you will arrive at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Washington Boulevard. Disembark at the stop closest to this intersection. The Chicago Road Marker is located at the corner of Michigan Avenue and 1020 Washington Blvd, just a short walk from the bus stop.
Walking
If you are near the Detroit Riverwalk, you can walk to the Chicago Road Marker. Start by heading north towards Jefferson Avenue. Turn left on Jefferson Avenue and walk until you reach the intersection with Michigan Avenue. Turn right onto Michigan Avenue and continue walking for several blocks. You will eventually reach the intersection with Washington Boulevard. The Chicago Road Marker will be located right at that corner.
Biking
For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the many bike-share stations throughout downtown Detroit. Start from the Detroit Riverwalk, heading west on Jefferson Avenue. Continue until you reach the intersection with Michigan Avenue. Take a left on Michigan Avenue and ride until you reach Washington Boulevard. The Chicago Road Marker will be located at the corner of Michigan Avenue and 1020 Washington Blvd.
