Nishnabe Gemaw: A Historical Gem in Grand Rapids

Getting There

• Public Transportation

  From downtown Grand Rapids, head to the Grand Rapids Central Station located at 440 Century Ave SW. You can take the DASH bus service (Route 5) which runs frequently. Board the bus heading towards the 'Southwest' direction. Get off at the stop at 'Bridge St NW & Leonard St NW'. From there, transfer to bus Route 4, which will take you towards the 'Southwest' area. Ride until you reach 'Gordon Park'. Nishnabe Gemaw is approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Head west on Leonard St NW, then turn left on 4th St NW. Continue until you reach the intersection with 7th St NW. The landmark will be in that vicinity.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the many bike-share stations around downtown Grand Rapids. Start at the Grand Rapids Bike Share station at 100 Ionia Ave SW. Head west on Ionia Ave until you reach Fulton St W. Turn right on Fulton St and continue until you reach the intersection with 4th St NW. Turn left on 4th St NW, and keep going until you reach 7th St NW. Nishnabe Gemaw will be located nearby. Ensure to wear a helmet and follow local biking regulations.

• Walking

  If you are near the Grand Rapids Public Museum, you can walk to Nishnabe Gemaw. Start at the museum located at 272 Pearl St NW. Head west on Pearl St NW until you reach the intersection with 4th St NW. Turn left and walk south on 4th St NW. Continue straight until you reach 7th St NW, where you will find Nishnabe Gemaw. The walk is approximately 30 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes.
