From Traverse City, head to the nearest bus stop on Front Street. Take the BATA bus route that goes towards Honor. Make sure to check the schedule as the buses may not run frequently. Stay on the bus until you reach the closest stop to Old Indian Trail, which is at the intersection of M-22 and N Scenic Hwy. From there, walk north on N Scenic Hwy for about 1 mile until you reach 4349 N Scenic Hwy. The trail entrance will be on your left.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local shops in Traverse City. Head west on Front Street, then take a left onto M-22. Follow M-22 north for approximately 20 miles, enjoying the scenic views along the way. When you reach the N Scenic Hwy intersection, continue north for about 1 mile. The entrance to Old Indian Trail will be on your left at 4349 N Scenic Hwy.
