Car
To reach Superior National Forest from any location within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, start by locating the nearest major road, typically the Gunflint Trail (MN-12) or another access road. From there, drive south towards Grand Marais, MN. Once you reach Grand Marais, follow MN-61 south towards Duluth. After approximately 70 miles, take the exit for MN-194 towards Duluth. Continue on MN-194 until you reach the intersection with Grand Avenue. Turn left onto Grand Avenue, and you will find the Superior National Forest headquarters at 8901 Grand Ave Pl, Duluth, MN 55808.

If you are traveling by public transportation, you can take a bus from Grand Marais to Duluth. Start by catching the Arrowhead Transit bus service, which operates routes through Cook County. The bus will take you to Duluth. Once you arrive in Duluth, you will need to use local transportation options (like a taxi or rideshare service) to reach the Superior National Forest headquarters located at 8901 Grand Ave Pl, Duluth, MN 55808. Be sure to check the Arrowhead Transit schedule for any fare costs and specific routes.

For the adventurous, biking is an option to reach Superior National Forest. From the Boundary Waters, you can take the Gunflint Trail south towards Grand Marais. The trail is scenic but be prepared for variable terrain. Once you reach Grand Marais, you can continue on MN-61 to Duluth.
