Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Grand Marais Harbor, located at 61 1st Ave E, Grand Marais, MN 55604. From the harbor, head northeast along the shoreline, following the pathway that runs parallel to Lake Superior. Continue walking along the waterfront until you reach the end of the harbor area. You will see a grassy area with a picnic spot. Keep walking straight until you find a path leading to the lighthouse. The Grand Marais Lower Range Lighthouse will be situated at the end of this path, easily visible from the shoreline.

• Biking

  If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Grand Marais Community Center located at 318 W 3rd St. Head southeast on W 3rd St towards Minnesota Hwy 61. Once you reach Minnesota Hwy 61, take a left and continue heading northeast until you find a bike path that leads towards the waterfront. Follow the bike path along the shoreline, passing by the harbor area. Continue until you reach the grassy picnic area, where you will see a path leading to the Grand Marais Lower Range Lighthouse.

• Hiking

  Begin your hike at the Gunflint Trail Visitor Center located at 1 Gunflint Trail, Grand Marais, MN 55604. From the visitor center, take the Gunflint Trail west for about a mile until you reach the trailhead for the Lake Superior Hiking Trail. Follow the trail south towards the lake. After approximately 2 miles, you will come to a clearing that opens up to the shoreline. Continue along the trail towards the Grand Marais Lower Range Lighthouse, which will be visible from the path.
