Getting There

Walking
From the center of Grand Marais, head north on Wisconsin Street until you reach East Highway 61. Turn left onto East Highway 61 and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. You will pass by several shops and restaurants. At the intersection with County Road 12, turn right and follow County Road 12 as it becomes Gunflint Trail. Continue walking along Gunflint Trail for approximately 20 miles. You will see signs for the Moose Viewing Trailhead on your right. Follow the signs to the parking area and trailhead.

Start in the center of Grand Marais and head north on Wisconsin Street. Turn left onto East Highway 61 and bike for about 0.5 miles. At the intersection with County Road 12, turn right. You will be on Gunflint Trail. Continue biking for about 20 miles. Be aware that this route can be hilly. Look for the Moose Viewing Trailhead signs on your right side along Gunflint Trail. Follow the signs to the parking area where you can chain your bike and start your hike.
