St. John's Episcopal Church, located one block from Jackson Town Square, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit and history of Jackson Hole. The church complex includes the original Rectory (1911), a Chapel (1916), and the main Church building (1995), each contributing to the site's rich story.The Rectory, constructed in 1911, served as the first location for Episcopal services in Jackson Hole. This two-story log building, with its rustic design, provided essential services to the isolated community.As the congregation grew, the Chapel was built in 1916 by local craftsmen. The log structure, designed in the rustic style popular for dude ranches, offered a dedicated space for worship. Today, the chapel is a sought-after venue for weddings and private events.In 1995, a larger church was constructed to accommodate the expanding congregation. Designed by architect John Carney, the new building maintains the rustic log architecture of the original structures while providing a more spacious and modern worship space.
