Public Transport
As of January 1, 2025, Independence has implemented the IRIS on-demand transit system, replacing most fixed bus routes. To reach the community center, use the IRIS mobile app or call 816-205-8221 to book a ride. The IRIS service operates Monday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The flat fare is $5 per person within the city of Independence. IRIS will drop off riders within a quarter mile of their final destination.
