The park's origins trace back to November 2, 1928, when William H. and Edith C. Landreth gifted 160 acres, encompassing Mineral Park and Cox's Grove, to the City of Joplin. This land was once part of the 'Kansas City Bottoms', a bustling mining area in the late 19th century.Today, Landreth Park offers a variety of activities.
