Schifferdecker Park is a 160-acre park located in Joplin, Missouri, offering a wide array of recreational activities and a glimpse into the city's past. Originally a dairy farm in the 1890s, Charles Schifferdecker, a German immigrant and prominent local businessman, acquired the land in the early 1900s. In 1913, he donated 40 acres to the city, stipulating that it be used as a free public park in perpetuity.Initially known as Electric Park, the site featured attractions like electric towers, a roller coaster, an outdoor dance hall, and a theater. After Schifferdecker's donation, the city removed the amusement rides and added improvements such as a swimming pool, playground equipment, and a baseball diamond. Today, visitors can enjoy a variety of amenities, including a disc golf course, a skateboard park, basketball courts, a swimming pool, and walking trails.
